Transit Store Open with Expanded Hours and Services
LADOT's transit store facility officially opened last November in the LA Mall across from City Hall in Downtown Los Angeles at 201 North Los Angeles Street, Space 18-B. Along with the new location, the LADOT Transit Store has expanded its hours of operation to Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. This new location in the heart of the Civic Center is especially convenient for City, County, State and Federal employees who ride transit and work in the area.

The new transit store carries information about all LADOT's Commuter Express and DASH bus services as well as its Cityride program for the elderly and mobility-impaired residents of the City. Metro Rail and Bus (MTA) information is also available, including a direct line phone to the Metro telephone information center.

In addition, the new store also houses the LADOT telephone information center. Customer service representatives answer customer phone calls, giving out LADOT bus route, schedule, fare and other information as well as entering suggestions, complaints and commendations into LADOT's Customer Feedback data system.

LADOT bus tickets and monthly passes for DASH and Commuter Express services are sold at this location as well as Metro and EZ transit passes.

We hope you will stop by our new location when you need tickets or passes, transit information, or route and schedule brochures. We look forward to your visit!

Commuter Express Refurbishment Completed
Many Commuter Express riders have been riding the newly refurbished buses for several months. Others have been riding leased buses while their buses were undergoing refurbishment. The Commuter Express fleet refurbishment program, an ambitious undertaking by LADOT, is now complete and all Commuter Express buses have new engines, better heating and air conditioning, improved interiors and a new graphic look.

DASH Children's Fares
The fare for children under 4 is free as long as there is a fare-paying adult to accompany up to two children. If there are more than two children under four, each additional child must pay 25¢.

  • 1 adult + 2 children under 4 yrs of age = 25¢ (fare for the adult, children free)
  • 1 adult + 3 children under 4 yrs of age = 50¢ (fare for 1 adult, + fare for 1 child, other 2 children free)

Sunday Service Now Offered on Nine DASH Routes
Responding to numerous requests, LADOT now offers Sunday service on nine of its most popular routes. Those routes are DASH Crenshaw, DASH Highland Park/Eagle Rock, DASH Hollywood, DASH Lincoln Heights/Chinatown, DASH Midtown, DASH Panorama City/Van Nuys, DASH Southeast, DASH Wilshire Center/ Koreatown and DASH Wilmington. LADOT also continues to run Sunday service on DASH Beachwood Canyon, DASH El Sereno/City Terrace, DASH Los Feliz, DASH Pico Union/Echo Park and DASH San Pedro. For specific schedules, call 808-2273.

LADOT Honored
Earlier this year, Access Services presented LADOT with the 2003 Spirit of Accessibility Award. LADOT won this award for its Cityride services as well as the fact that all of its DASH and Commuter Express buses are accessible for elderly and mobility challenged customers.

LADOT was also recently named one of the top 100 transportation systems in the U.S. and received a plaque to commemorate the honor.

In addition, LADOT just won two first place awards from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), for the design of its schedule brochures and its website design. Because APTA is the national association for transit operators, LADOT competed with transit systems from all over the US in winning these two awards.

Colors Mean Something
When LADOT makes a change to one of its routes, the color of its printed schedule brochure will also change to help alert riders that something new is happening on that route. If you are used to seeing a blue schedule brochure on your DASH or Commuter Express bus and notice that the brochure is now burgundy, it means something has changed and you should pick up one of those new brochures to see whether you are going to be affected.

All LADOT maps and schedules are updated on this website as well.

Cityride Sports a New Look
LADOT's Cityride program recently replaced its fleet of vehicles and took the opportunity to upgrade the Cityride logo as well as the vehicle graphics. The new logo was designed to convey movement and mobility as a reflection of the program's commitment to the elderly and mobility challenged citizens of the City of Los Angeles.
