DASH to Class — Students Ride Free

Your school must be located in Los Angeles County to apply. Students who meet the enrollment requirements for a Student Reduced Fare TAP card may apply online, in person, or by mail any time during the current school term. Students and or parents/guardians are encouraged to submit the application online for faster processing times.

Please gather the following required documents before you begin:

• Proof of Enrollment (provide one of the following)
  • Current report card; OR
  • Current valid school ID;
  • OR Class schedule with the total number of units and/or in-classroom hours;
  • OR Official letter from school verifying enrollment
• For students under 18, parent/guardian authorization for online application and parent/guardian signature for paper application is required.

Your school must be located in Los Angeles County to apply. Students who meet the enrollment requirements for a Student Reduced Fare TAP card may apply online, in person, or by mail any time during the current school term. Students are encouraged to submit the application online for faster processing times.

1. Current full-face photo
   1. Color photo (no black and white);
   2. No hats or sunglasses;
   3. Upload a digital photo (JPG file format, maximum size 2Mb); OR
      Attach a 2—x2— or 1—x1 ¼— photo to the printed application when applying by mail or in person.
2. Official photo ID (provide one of the following)
   1. California ID card; OR
   2. California driver’s licence; OR
   3. Passport
3. Proof of Enrollment (provide one of the following)
   1. Current registration/fee receipt, including the school term, class schedule and units; OR
   2. Printout with official school URL showing enrollment units and/or in-classroom hours. This document must be stamped by the registrar’s office; OR
   3. Current contract or agreement between the applicant and the school stating the total number of units and/or in-classroom hours; OR
   4. Current registration form or enrollment certificate, stating the total number of units and/or in-classroom hours; OR Official letter from school verifying enrollment

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate Students

• Current Term of 12 units minimum*; OR
• Current term of 12 hours per week minimum* (for at least 3 consecutive months)

Graduate Students

• Current term of 8 units minimum*; OR
• Current term of 8 hours per week minimum* (for at least 3 consecutive months)

*If you are currently enrolled in a summer or winter program that does not meet the minimum requirement for units/hours, but you met the requirement in the preceding spring or summer term, please submit enrollment documentation for both terms.

*This is the most efficient way to apply for a Student Reduced Fare TAP Card. No postage required and shorter processing time of your application.

1. Create a TAP account for each student. A valid, unique email address must be associated with each account.
2. When the account is created, a password link will be emailed to the student’s email address. Follow the link and set a password.
3. Log in to the student’s TAP account and submit a K-12 Student Reduced Fare TAP card application.
4. Upon approval of your application, a Student Reduced Fare TAP Card will be mailed to you.

TO SUBMIT IN PERSON

1. Download the application and fill it out completely.
2. Gather the necessary eligibility documents.
3. Return your application and eligibility documents in person by taking it to:

4. Upon approval of your application, a Student Reduced Fare TAP Card will be mailed to you.

TO SUBMIT BY MAIL

1. Download the application and fill it out completely.
2. Gather the necessary eligibility documents.
3. Mail your application and eligibility documents to:
   1. One Gateway Plaza
      Mail Stop 99-PL-4, Los Angeles, CA. 90012-2952
4. Upon approval of your application, a Student Reduced Fare TAP Card will be mailed to you.

1. With your Reduced Fare TAP Card, you’re able to ride any DASH Bus, anytime for free!
2. You can load your Reduced Fare TAP Card with a Metro 30-day pass ($24) to ride Metro bus and rail with reduced fares.
3. You can even load your Reduced Fare TAP Card with Stored Value to ride across 26 TAP agencies throughout LA County.
